Default Time Compression Tool

I do alot of promo work for boadcast so I usually work with very short format (10, 20, 30 second) mixes. I often have a hard time fitting the VO tracks into the spot. I'm talking frames here. What is a good tool to use to shorten the takes without introducing alot of pitch shifting? Someone told me the FCP4 has a utility that will alter the times of the audio without messing with the pitch very much. I used digi's time compression/expansion audiosuite plugin which works for very small changes but I hate the interface. I'm looking for something better.

Have to agree it's not cheap but nothing I've heard can touch it and the flexability is fantastic.

While Pitch' n' Time has many uses (it's a great sound design tool), it makes dialog sound distant and phasey. I like Digi TCE for that a lot more. Waves has something new in this area, which you may want to test.

I would have to agree with Pietari. For dialog I generally prefer Digi's TCE over PnT or Speed. I would rank it second to the old Lexicon 2400 (I think it was called).

I did a quick listen to the new Waves Time Comp/Ep plugin and for dialog I think Digi's is still the best (not as good as the Lexicon 2400 if memory serves).

Why can't anyone come up with a plug-in to beat the Lexicon 2400? I have to agree the Lexicon 2400 IS the best I've heard.
