If you want to use your digi001 as an in- or output for other applications, the only thing you can do is install the wavedriver http://www.digidesign.com/download/wavdrv.html

this will let you use channels 1 & 2 of the digi001.

Another thing to come is direct-connect. We (pc-users) have it since version 5.3.1, but as of yet there are no applications that can use it. I think this will change, so you can have your softsynths and all running through d/c.

The other way people are doing it, is simply use another soundcard in your system with digital outputs. Connect those to the inputs of the digi001, fire up both programs, and you are set to go. All you nnow have to figure out is how to sync them together.

The wave-driver is probably on your cd. You need to have ptle installed before you attempt to install the wave-driver, but since you obviously are using ptle, that shouldnt be a problem

About that linking and grouping issue. You can move the faders of a group independently with the right mouse button and as a group with the left button.

You would need to create another session, import the 2 tracks, create the stereo-track, drag the regions in that track, save the session, open your old session, delete the 2 mono-tracks, and do a import track from that other session....
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">also, if you record using the time signiture within pro tools, all you have to do is move the two mono files on empty space to some other arbitrary track. Delete those two tracks, make a stereo track then get the two mono's on the stereo.
Like I said, if you have it all in time with the grid, you will very easily get it back in time.
Otherwise, don't move them horizontally

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">If you by accident move some regions that shouldnt be moved, and where recorded on that spot, uou could use the spot-mode to put them back where they where in time (horizontal). Just set the mode to spot (top left corner of the edit-window), select the grabber-tool, and select the region. A window will pop-up, and in the lower part of that window is a section that says something like "original time-stamp". click on the butoon next to it, and hit enter. That's it.
