Default No sound in Virtual Instruments

I am running pro tools 9 with windows8. I have gone through the numerous steps to download and install the many parts of ik multimedia total studio 3. After I have gotten all activated, I cant get any sounds in PT. When I try to open virtual instruments, they appear in the plug in and play with the MIDI keyboard but there is no sound.

The hardware options in Amplitude are DirectX and ASIO but my hardware option in PT peripheral is only fast track pro. I'm stuck and not sure where to go from here to get my sound from the virtual instruments into PT.

Are you using these plugins outside or inside pro tools?
If inside, do you use instrument track or audio track. (use instrument track)
Im not sure if standalone mode can be linked to pro tools in any way....

inside pro tools as a plug in, and on an instrument track. WHen I play the MIDI keyboard, the keys move on the virtual instrument keys. But no sound.

Fo into settings in Pro Tools and choose i/o and there press default on all the tabs both input and output aswell and then when you make a new Instrument track arm the record button on that track as see if the sound comes out now.

Best Regards

Make an audio track and load the plug in and then make a midi track and on the i/o leave the top at ALL and choose the instrument on the plugin on the bottom. Hit the record button on the midi track and then play your keyboard. You should now hear the plugin.

Thank you! Good workaround but it doesn't solve the root problem. Why did the sound just stop coming from the instrument tracks?
