I just got my first outboard pre with digital outs (all my others are straight up analog). What do you prefer? Spdif or Adat? The pre is a two channel ART DPS II and I'm working with a 002. Thanks

Really doesn't matter.
Unless you have other gear that needs interfacing with the hardware it should not matter. Choose whatever makes u happy Cheers |

Both options are actually going to be SPDIF one is Coax the other is Optical (at least when using it in the SPDIF format). I would use the Coax connection. That leaves the optical conection open to use in the ADAT format wich will allow you to expand your 002 to 18 total inputs. You can get these extra 8 by using an 8 channel A/D/A that runs ADAT optical. i.e. Focusrite Octopre, Presonus Digimax, or Alesis AI3.

Yeah, I've done the 8 adat in before at work, but we have HD there now, and I don't need extra's at home. But, I'm basically wondering if there is any signal degredation in the coax spdif as opposed to sending it optical.
