Default Vertical Zoom in Pro Tools

Hi all,

Last question of the day... I know it's quite silly but for the life of me I can't figure it out!

How would I enlarge my tracks vertically within my Edit window?

Here are the interface buttons to do this:

Don't you have a scroll wheel on your mouse? I don't think there is a keyboard combination for scrolling.

BTW, I think there is something wrong with your screenshot. When I hover over it w/pointer, it dims the whole screen like it should, but doesn't show the image, like it should. Clicking in dimmed area usually returns to the regular DUC window, but not here. Only way I find to escape the dimmed window is to hit the 'previous window' button. (BTW, esc-key also does not work.)

I never saw this before. I fiddled around and found that the image was so far to the right that it was outside the screen. You might wanna check out what's wrong.

I realize that it's already quite late there in London, and that you might have had a few ales - but your thread title bears no relation to the question. ie "Vertical Zoom", "Vertical Scroll".

So here's both answers which you can peruse in the morning after it's all worn off:
1. Vertical Zoom Audio on all audio tracks Option plus Command plus [ or ]
2. Scroll Vertically using Page Up & Down buttons on an extended keyboard. or drag the darker elongated bar (no, not that pub in Soho)

or better yet, buy yourself a Kensington Expert Wired Trackball and use the scrollwheel to continuously scroll with one hand while supping London Pride with the other.
"scrolling". What a wonderful word. It conjures up images of other activities.
Judge: "Will the defendant please rise. You stand accused of gross, indecent scrolling. How do you plead?".
Pro Tools User: "Guilty, your honor - with extenuating circumstances".

for more shortcut tips, check out this awesomely useful website (go to the zoom section at the side panel):

This is the best response I've seen on a forum to date. I normally sit on the Avid Pro Video forums, This audio Pro Tools thing is fairly new to me.

Nope, No chance with the beer. I have a director, producer, and editor coming to my suite tomorrow morning for an edit session on a film I'm cutting. I have to be sharp. lol!

Anyway, I realise this is a stupid question, and I made a calamitous error in my initial post... I'm trying to do this with a keyboard shortcut: https://streamable.com/dk8phk

NOT simply scroll vertically. I want to enlarge all my tracks at the same time.

None of your suggestions did what I want the system to do.
P.S. I'm on a windows system

FYI, I used to use a kengsington trackball. I still have it stored away... See excerpt 1: c60dfb98-3705-476d-99c3-6b42599a25a0_rw_3840.jpg

I used it for about a month, then went back to my Wacom and Vertical Mouse. I'm just faster with these peripherals.

That one's easy; in the edit window, hover your pointer over track names, and between tracks the pointer turns into a 'spacer' symbol that lets you increase or decrease the vertical size of a track. Hold option/alt key and drag; all tracks will be resized vertically.

NVM. Just worked it out.
The combination I was looking for was Start + Alt + Up/Down Arrow Key.

Thanks all.

Glad you got it !
BTW, you can save Track Height presets in Memory Locations.
I always have mine in locations 50 > 59
I can quickly go back to what I call "Working Track Heights" by pressing dot, 50, dot on my numeric keypad.
When you save a memory location, make sure it has no time properties, and only Track Heights checked.
I always have Working, Micro, Mini, Medium, Large, at least in my presets.
Update them by holding Ctrl + Clicking on that particular memory location.
Change all heights by holding option while changing the height of one track (next to the meters in Edit Window)
Change all currently selected tracks by holding Shift+Option while changing the height of one track.
Good luck with the cut !

p.s. that shortcuts website has a Windows mode for seeing shortcuts.
