Default How to duplicate clips... that actually duplicate physical files?

If I copy/paste a clip in the editor window, it does not create a new/unique file. I know this 99% of the time a good thing, but if I cant duplicate the regions in PT im going to have a lot of confusing duplication to do in Finder

help?? I know I could consolidate the files one by one, but im literally dealing with thousands.
