Default PT6 & other apps

Can anyone confirm or deny the ability of Logic to access the 001 in OS X (obviously with PT6). I mean now and not 'in a future release'.

Thanks!

Curtis

I was wondering the same thing...It seems that emagic is saying once PT 6 is out, they will be working on the ability to use Digi hardware on native systems (anyone correct me if I'm wrong). So, it seems not yet...

First off - The Digi001 doesnt work in OSX at all. PT6 is vaporware until the release date is set. Getting on stage with Steve J and saying "we'll release in January" tells me it'll get pushed bach again. Blow some sunshine at Macworld Digi, just release !!!

Secondly the Digi001 is not a Native system, I'm afraid Native means TDM/HD. The Digi001 is host based. Theres been no word from Digi or Emagic when cross-app support will come for these devices (probably by way of CoreAudio and thats Q2 2003 ... yah right.)

I'm sure one day in 2004 (quote me if you like) we'll have CoreAudio driver for the Digi001 then it'll work in just about any app that supports CoreAudio. But I dont see this as a high priority for LE based systems. Hence the 2004 prediction.

Til CoreAudio (or host based DAE support) happens you are out of luck for Logic/Digi001/OS X .

emagic website has this statement (no date on when this went up though)

http://www.emagic.de/english/support.../logicosx.html

which includes the following (not particularly definitive) info:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Audio Hardware

Access to audio hardware is handled via the Mac OS X standard service known as "Core Audio". This eliminates the need for proprietary standards such as: ASIO,
EASI or Direct~I/O. Currently, there are Core Audio drivers for the built-in Apple audio hardware and the EMI 2|6. Core Audio drivers are also available from
other audio hardware manufacturers such as: MOTU, M-Audio, Edirol and RME.

DAE (TDM) (Logic Platinum only)

DAE support is currently unavailable. DAE support is planned, with development in close co-operation with Digidesign.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No explicit mention of host based stuff like 001, mbox, 002....

the suspense is killing me...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Yep, you are right, Phil. Check any plug in vendor's site, like Waves, just in case you need further confirmation.
