Re: PT "Not Responding" every 20 seconds for about 10 seconds
On topic, yes - try without plugins first.
I had a pretty similar, slightly less severe issue on my new monster i9 - I initially thought it could be a Win 11 incompatibility problem but I then opened Task Manager and saw the Pace Manager taking 6-10% constant CPU (with probable spiking causing the hangs). Some googling led me to Steinberg forums and then to a Slate support article (with macOS screenshots) - apparently their VRM, if run without all modules licensed (i.e. without their subscription) "calls home" constantly to see for the ilok license, stupid! The fix is to uninstall all unlicensed VRM modules, that fixed mine. It's just stupid that all the modules are force-installed and it has this bug of constantly checking for the licenses. https://slatedigital.zendesk.com/hc/...ng-VMR-Modules

Had various problems (including pausing) with PT12.5 on Win10 that disappeared with 12.5.2

Re: PT "Not Responding" every 20 seconds for about 10 seconds
That's sloppy coding on Slate's part.

Re: PT "Not Responding" every 20 seconds for about 10 seconds
Hey all!
I've been having this issue for the past couple weeks as well and it has driven me insane. After trying multiple things - from reinstalling a couple of times, updating everything that is to be updated on my computer, etc. etc. I still couldn't figure it out. Then I stumbled across this topic about an earlier version of Pro tools generating the same issue: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=410490&page=4 I tried cutting my network connection and voilà - all of a sudden, Pro Tools runs smoothly. On one hand, I am glad to have found a workaround, but it's not really a solution for me to just turn off my internet connection entirely when working because I also need to use online libraries simultaneously, etc. I set up rules in my firewall settings preventing all Pro Tools related applications from building up a network connection (as someone suggested in the above topic), but even that made no difference. PT still keeps freezing when my network connection is enabled, and as soon as I turn it off, it runs smoothly. By now, I am out of ideas, so if anyone else has any input, it'd be appreciated :) |
