Hi there,
Apologies if this has been beaten to death elsewhere. I tried doing some Googling but found no resolution (DUC search is useless...) I am having one of those days where the constant stuck notes in Kontakt instruments is driving me more bonkers than usual. Seems so freaking stupid that Avid can't address this issue. Or NI. Or someone!!! Can it really be that hard?? Or is there a fix that I am missing?? Kontakt 7 here, PT 2024.3.1 running on an M1 Studio Ultra / Ventura... Thanks, sorry for the rant-ish tone...

Beyond seeing the specific case in your sessions, I can only note 3 things (possibly) different, based on your stated system. I have been using Kontakt 8 (whatever version is current) and PT 2024.10 since November. Both releases integrated Kontakt into Pro Tools in new ways, and it seems like a lot of things smoothed out between the 2 apps. I don't know if it specifically addressed this issue, but it might have. I also removed any prior Kontakt version from my Plug-Ins folder. Everything opens in Kontakt 8. Also, I found that when I looked at the instruments in my template, there's a checkbox that was unchecked that, frankly, needs to be checked. If you open an NKI in Kontakt (use "Classic View" under Views, not Default) click the wrench icon at the top left of the the Instrument. Then click the "Instrument Options" button in the row at the top. This will open a pop-up settings window. You want the Controller tab on the left, and you want to check (white box) the line that says "Accept All Notes Off (#123) and All Sounds Off (#120)". I don't know if this is a setting shipped by the Instrument developers, but I haven't been able to find a global Kontakt setting for it. I just changed it on every NKI in my template and re-saved it. Regardless, enable that, and at least you'll be able to use the Command+Shift+Period (.) command to send the "All Notes Off" message when PT is stopped. I want to say that I think PT automatically sends that message when playback is stopped, but I'm not sure and can't find any actual references to it in the User Guide.

I had a similar issue with an XLN VI plugin, reinstalling the plugin and the XLN central and clearing my Pro Tools Prefs seemed to have fixed it, wasn't able to investigate further since the issue never came back.
will check on this further...

However, there are a small number of libraries where I do and perversely they are NI’s own premium ones like Piano Colours! I’ve put it down to buggy scripting rather than an inherent issue with Kontakt. In answer to the OP - as massivekerry says, is it specific to certain libraries or all of them?

M1 MacStudio Ultra, PT 2024.10.2, Mac OS 15.3.2, Kontakt 8. No stuck notes these days though I was certainly plagued by them for years. NI libraries, Arcade (from Output) and Modo Bass (IK) were the biggest offenders. I don't believe any libraries stick anymore. Maybe Modo still does. IK is awful when it comes to tech so I expected them to be last to fix this.
It wasn't Kontakt 8 that fixed this because the stuck notes evaporated while I was still using V7. |

Yeah I thought it got better in K7. It was only certain libraries that did it. So whether that was an NI problem or 3rd party who knows. Was it only an issue in PT?

I'm not sure about every other DAW but I have a coworker who composes in Logic and he would never have the issues we PT users had.

Thanks for all these replies! Somehow I didn't get email notifications of any replies, which is odd... It is happening right now like CRAZY using the Kontakt Symphony Series Woodwind, so I was logging back in simply to vent. It happens all the time on various Session Strings intruments... Since most of you seem to be on Kontakt 8, wonder if they addressed a bunch of stuff in Kontakt 8??
My question would be - I remember being really shocked and frustrated when I upgraded from Kontakt 6 to Kontakt 7 and realized there was ZERO upward compatability. I just got messages saying Kontakt 6 not available, and it didn't bring up all my instruments and patches in the new Kontakt 7 plugin. I had to rebuild everything. That's why I haven't upgraded to 8. I can't afford to have to rebuild all my instruments and settings. Is Kontakt 7 upwardly compatible to Kontakt 8?? Thanks for the help!!
