Default Bounce to Disk Giving Me Problems

I've been a Sonar user for years but have been working with Pro Tools 10 for the last couple of months. I'm really liking the smooth operation and rock-solid stability of Pro Tools...with one exception...Bounce to Disk.

Once I press Enter and the little progress dialog showing a countdown of the time remaining pops up then its a coin toss as to whether I'll end up with a mixed down stereo .WAV file or Pro Tools stops responding and I have to shut it down via the Windows Task Manager.

I've done a lot of experimenting trying to track the problem down but I can't determine anything repeatable. I tried opening the Session with all plugs disabled but that didn't help. I've noticed that a mouse click, even if in another application window, will cause it to stop responding.

Does anyone have any ideas? If I can get this issue solved then I will be a happy camper because I've run into no other problems with Pro Tools.

Ooops, never mind. I guess I should have searched prior posts, but I'm new to this forum.

I guess its the Windows Aero incompatibility thing. I also didn't realize that even though the GUI freezes, the bounce to disk is still successful if you just let it go.

yep, when you're bouncing, it's break time. Nothing you can do but wait.
