Default Pro Tools 11 Qualified Apple Computers

It looks like Avid updated this yesterday:

Makes me much happier :)

Remember, supported and works are two different things. I have used a lot of unsupported computers with Protools over the years and had no issues, except one.

Still waiting for my Harpertown Mac Pro to be supported. I'm running Mountain Lion on it, so why not Pro Tools 11? I'd certainly have a new Mac Pro by now if Apple had actually released something new in the past couple of years.

I believe it will probably run on any Mac that can run ML. However with varying degrees of performance and success. I'm gonna try it on my MacBook Pro which isn't listed, but runs the same CPU as some of the Mac Mini's that are supported.

Thanks for the heads up.
I noticed the main requirements article was also updated.

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/c...m-Requirements

From what I could see, the RAM requirements & recommendations for Macs was lowered from 8 & 16 to 4 & 8 GB. And there was also a mentioning about a version 10.3.6:

Quote:
Use Pro Tools 10.3.6 or higher co-install to open earlier sessions or convert required SD2 audio files
Hoping for a release soon. :)

Interesting they skipped the 2011 iMacs; they have 2012, 2010 and 2009 though.

Just my 5 cents.

Regards
I fully expect that you will not be able to install it. The coding is different for ML over L if I understand correctly, and your EFI on the 1.1 will not run 64 bit correctly. It works after a fashion now but I've already had a prog or three that would not install on my 2.1 for that very reason.

I gave up and built a hackintosh so I could be ready for it. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it performs. Every feature works and PT10HD 10.3.5 has worked so well I mothballed my 2.1. It will find it's way onto ebay within the next week or two.

At the end of the day, the new iteration of PT may very well negate the need for a MP to get the stability we've become accustomed to.

There's a reason the MPs that are fully supported start with the 4,1.

Just saying.

I would like to know what it is, because I only understand why the 1,1 and 2,1 aren't supported. I see no reason why my 3,1 can't be supported. I'm fully 64 bit running ML. I'm pretty sure it will work.

EFI firmware update for one - 3,1 is ver 1.3 and 4,1 is 1.4
And remember that 'not supported' doesn't mean it won't work, just that Avid hasn't tested it for full functionality and therefore won't give tech support for it (whether you actually use tech support from Avid).
