Default Protools 9 crash entire PC while loading a session

Hi

This is the most annoying problem ever... Anyone encountered this problem recently?

When I load a big session then protools just crash leaving me with no option it even enter the task manager to end process, it forces me to reset m pc which is bloody annoying... i have read some posts where you can hold down shift while loading the session but that doesn't solve the problem because now i have to enable every plugin every time i start working... is there no patch that fixes this bug? it cant be my plugins because i have been using this for years now and neva had this problem.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Corrupt session file? Have you tried loading a backup file from that session? Is this the only session that crashes?

Start here and post a Sandra report on your system.

Tell us if you have installed anything new on this computer or if you have allowed automatic updates to make any changes.

Are ALL of your plug-ins properly updated with the latest versions?

Does this happen on all of your sessions?

Do you have backups of your sessions and system drive?

Besides the good advice above, do your sessions run fine and close fine with all plugins disabled? If so, that points to a bad or outdated plugin(as soon as you make it active, it screws the system). Start by making all the stock plugins active as those are, most likely, okay(its 3rd party stuff that I would look at).

When you post the Sandra report, include what interface you use and exactly how its connected. Is your buffer set to 1024(often needed for big sessions)? Are your sessions on a separate hard drive?

hi, sorry for the late reply... but yes i have sessions on a diffrent haddrive

using 1024 buffer
using Edirol UA-25EX interface...
windows 7
8 gig ram
i7 3.4Ghz

when i load the project with no plugins then it opens... and its funny, it only happened to 2 of my recent projects... i dont understand, i have been using the same setup all a long, my latest plugin i got was the IK MultiMedia Track...

but i have uninstalled it and the projects still freez without it so im trying to find out which plugin could cause this....

I will try to do the sandra report thing, soon as i figure out how....

Thanks for showing support guys...

Try disabling your wireless adapter while running Pro Tools.

You may be well advised to add another matching RAM stick to your system to take advantage of Dual channel.

Don't use the 5400-RPM drive for audio.

A dedicated video card has typically been a safer bet with Pro Tools.

All that being said, I doubt that your issue is related to the above. It does look more like a Plug-in issue. There are times when an older (out of date) plug-in can be incompatible with another one, making the search more difficult.

First, remove any plug-ins that are not absolutely current from the plug-ins folder.

Hi

Oky I know what you mean but tried to open a different session which had the same plugins as the problem session and that one loaded fine... so im starting to think it can't be the plugins....

besides i have been running protools with this system for months now and never encountered this problem....

i tried reinstalling my plugins to... and i know all of them are compatible with protools because i didn't upgrade or install any new plugins recently...

I will troubleshoot more and ill keep you posted, thanks for your help

funny enough you said i shouldn't use this drive.... a couple of months ago when i only had the 5400-RPM drive as a secondary drive, i actually used that to run my projects on and i never had any problems with protools lol its kinda weird but i have moved my projects to my other faster internal drives recently....

anyway... this is more of a mystery now
