Frustrated as to lack of installation info for PT11
Ok Now,
I have spent hours trying to locate the exact "best working practice" of moving from PT10 HD to PT11 HD on Win 7 64 Native. I cannot believe that there is no step by step document detailing what to uninstall and when and what to install and how. in Win 7/64 there are 3 separate installs 1 The Driver 2 The Program 3 the FX Package. Avid should provide a video for this / not some youtube user with no experience in the making of stable DAWs. Do I wipe all 3 and start over or leave anything behind? Oh and thank you Ilok for making me call Avid so that they could email you to work out my licence being jacked by your Manager today. If you have Ilok issues call Avid folks as Iloks software is malfunctioning by taking by HD 10 license off my ilok then saying I dont have a license and therefore cannot upgrade to PT 11 HD- what foolish nonsense! They did fix it after a few hours I got an email with instructions that obviously had involved someone personally logging into my account and manually adjusting the content. I am a bit insulted by the lack of direct information sharing on Avids part. The upgrade says uninstall your previous version using that versions instructions from that installer - just reiterate how to do it you guys, sheesh. EOE

Re: Frustrated as to lack of installation info for PT11
I personally un-installed previous version of Pro Tools in accordance with Avids instructions. There are 3 choices when un-installing, I chose option #3 which uninstalls everything. Whenever I uninstall Pro Tools, once done I run a registry cleaner & reboot before re-installing.
I then installed v10.3.6, followed by PT11.01 then Air Instruments for PT11, then installed drivers. In Win7, I always do all installations (including drivers) with interface switched off. Once installations are complete I reboot with it switched on. I was up & running in no time. There are some who have not uninstalled previous version before upgrading and seem to be ok but I've always found it best practice to do so.
