Mbox 2 crashing system (mac protools 8le/logic pro9)

i've been using protools on windows for years and got some nice results. I'm going to uni in september and studying music tech at degree level, being a Logic based course i decided to buy a macbookpro.

I installed Logic pro9 and it worked geat, its a really nice program and a refreshing change from protools. As i needed a i/o interface i decided to use my mbox 2, this is where i stared getting problems.

once protools was installed (downloaded from avid site as free update) and the mbox connected, logic would load to a point and crash, as would the core midi framwork folder (m-audio keystudio 49) even protools would'nt load past xpand, even opening system preff and clicking on of the options would also crash it.

However with the mbox disconected everything works fine. I found that if i open logic and protools and then inserted the mbox when prompted things would work... for a while and then crash. its got to the point where i have no output to my monitors.

i've downloaded all the latest software updates for my mac and still no joy...


the problem definately lies with the Mbox 2

what version of pro tools are you using? Try 8.0.4 as I think that fixes some core midi issues.

hmm it has nothing to do with protools, eveything works without the mbox2... as soon as it get plugs in everything crahes... hmm i'll just buy the apogee, if avid cant be bothered to check for things like this theres no point, they even say on the update that its not yet fully ready for the latest verion of mac os x 10...

Actually it does have to do with Pro Tools (likely, at least). If you don't have the correct version of Pro Tools installed, you won't have the right driver, which could cause the crashing.

success, no more core midi folder bouncing around and crashing everything:) fanks for all your help!
