Default Plug-in for speed change?

Can anyone recommend a plug that would allow you to change speed of a sound while following movement?
An example would be a bike rolling downhill, going faster as reaches bottom.
Ideally, the plug could be controlled dynamically so that you could track movement.
Thanks,
JJ

The waveform view in Serato's Pitch 'n' Time Pro in varispeed mode will let you shape a continuous changing varispeed. Sound quality is excellent.

The old school thing to do would be to drop it in a sampler and automate the pitch bend wheel.

Keep in mind that a real-time plug-in can't do what you're looking for. It's going to be Audiosuite, or a standalone app, or a tape deck!

Best,

In Sony Vegas, you can draw clip-based speed automation. It's real-time too!

EDIT: well, it's not a plugin, sorry....

Can't you use Elastic Audio and varispeed to do something like this?

Structure free and pitch-wheel on a keyboard? Automate while watching picture.

No, or not really. EA moves in increments and as far as I know there is no way to get it to change smoothly, unless this changed in 8??

Just a thought, what you might be going for is a doppler effect, though maybe not passing the screen, but waves makes a doppler plugin, try that

You can automate using elastic time if you put your track in Varispeed mode and then automate tempo changes. You draw your tempo changes in with the pencil tool. Unfortunately it affects all tracks at once -- any track that's in ticks, not samples. It's a little jumpy but will work.

The best plug-in for tempo and pitch changes is Sound Toys Speed. Use it in graphical mode to draw in tempo/pitch changes. I used to have this back on my Pro Tools 5 system but didn't buy it since there was so much hype over the new elastic time. Elastic time just doesn't quite deliver as well though. I have heard it has been improved in Pro Tools 8 but I haven't made the upgrade yet.

If you decide to buy Speed, it's probably worth it to buy the whole Native Effects bundle as it's only $100 more and gives you a whole bunch of cool stuff.
