Default static in recording

I've been getting static in my recordings when I record. I'm not sure what the problem is? Help.. Using ProTools 8.0cs2 m-powered.

It could be a number of things. like a bad cable, you might be recording lower than 24bits. Check to see if your audio interface is set to 24bits. 24bits is standard. Can you explain your rig?

What interface are you using? Also post a sandra report, the more information the better the responses. Also I had a Delta 1010lt that got this with ver8 all the time, turns out it was cpu throttling.

I don't need a Sisoft Sandra report, but it would help to know your basic hardware, CPU, motherboard, recording interface...it's not the same for all computers.

Static is usually a Latency problem and is almost always directly related to C1E for M-Audio hardware

The Sandra report would be nice. Also exactly what interface, and a better description of the noise would be nice. WNB would obviously be completely a different problem, unlike the mbox distortion issue, or the c1e maudio issues. But Drivers can cause a multitude of problems as well. And we don't know if there's a USB drive in the mix.

Y'all get the point.Sandra reports are essential.
