Default SPDIF input clicks

I use PT24Mix+ with an 882/20 on the core card and an 888/24 on the farm. USD on video ref. drives both with superclock.

My cheapie SONY PCM-R300 has no word clock or sync input. When I connect it to either the 888 or 882 SPDIF inputs I get digital clicks and pops. Tried new cables (2' long). 882 on "internal" sync produces awful noise. Tried setting session to "internal" ref. on USD. Tried making DAT the only digital input.
Clicks are subtle but noticable on tone when analog outs are clean.

Suggestions?

Thanks...

Connect your digital out to S/PDIF in of the interface. On the settings dialogue set "sync" to "digital, "digital" to "S/PDIF" and "Ch1-2" to "digital". Everything should sync then to the DAT and the clicks should vanish.

regards,

Dan

Dan,
Did all that first, needless to say. Extensively troubleshot before posting this. Other SPDIF devices don't exhibit the problem.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">-This piece of information suggests that the SONY PCM-R300 is malfunctioning.

-If I remember correctly, the PCM-R300 is equipped with Optical S/PDIF. Therefore, you should try a different Optical-to-Coaxial S/DPIF converter.
