My ignorance about living in 64-bit mode or the ignorance in 64-bit worship?

I don't get it. Can anyone explain why 64 bit is being treated as a Godsend when big many big sample Logic guys tried 64 bit and went back to 32 bit? If Apple can't make 64 bit Logic great in OSX, will Avid?

Guys, my wife had a baby, I've slipped behind on the DUC and my saw is dulled this year. I'm not an expert in 64 bit knowledge, but it seems like the benefits will positively affect the majority only minimally. Help me understand how 64bit will blow the socks off of everyone and is being worshipped as such?
No one has worshipped 64 bit. No one has claimed that it will blow your socks off. And contrary to some beliefs it is not Anti-Avid to want it. Apple not getting 64 bit right did not slow down the innovation of VI companies.

Hey, if Avid does not want to go 64 bit and wants everyone requesting it to go away and buy VE Pro, then they should just say it. But to downplay the need for a 64 bit DAW is just as off base as an actual Anti-Avid rant.

I will continue to say that a feature is only not important when you don't need it.

I've lost a TON of respect for Avid since their big egos have been released alongside the introduction of PT10. But I went ahead and got PT10 and HDX and I have to say it's pretty damned stable. I held onto 7.4cs2 forever cuz 8 sucked and 9 was SO-SO. So I took the plunge and I have to say I'm satisfied. Not happy though due to the plug-in issue (very few DSP plug-ins available which Avid doesn't seem to care about) but every plug-in works native without a problem, for now. Then there's WAVES who seems to care more about amateur-garage-band-musicians than the pros that actually PAY for their software.

As far as ideas that PT is dying, what's funny is that my dealer couldn't keep up with the orders of PT10 and trade-ins of "blue" gear to get the new stuff.

So....I hope Avid is humbled a bit by the huge huge amounts of negativity resulting from their cockiness, gigantic executive bonuses, etc.

But I doubt it. Bring back Digidesign....

PT11? Every sign points to the fact that Avid execs are having so much fun patting themselves on the back and cashing big bonuses --- while laying off important people, that there aren't many funds left to develop PT11 properly....so I'll hang onto PT10 - as long as DSP plug-ins grow in numbers.

So obviously many of Avid's customers (the vast majority, most likely) don't feel the way you do.
If you're in business, staying afloat in this economy, developing new technology, selling quality products to your customers, and your customers are for the most part pleased with the product, then you're succeeding...regardless of what the disgruntled few have to say about it.
Not saying you're one of the disgruntled, just saying that their numbers are few.
Actually, HDX systems are not selling at all. No one has stock.
With a major roll-out of a new platform, that is a huge failure on Avid's part.

Avid is a corporation, success is measured solely by their stock price.

Plenty are selling via back order.
True, and their stock price has doubled since Oct. 2011.
It still has a way to go to get back to where it was, but things are looking up.

EJ, you are really starting to just look like an Avid shill.

Come on, man, your apologies are pretty thin, don't you think?

Kaspar-has their stock doubled since Oct. 2011?
Would one not effectively say that things are looking up?
Those are both simple yes or no questions.
Spin away.

OK, first off, no spin here just frustration. I love the product, I just can't get it, and that is a big concern about the stability and future of the company.

You picked the lowest point of their stock, that's BS, just to illustrate your "doubled" claim.

YTY it's down over 50%
5 years, it's down 67%

..... math, baby, not spin

Read, son. Read.
I said their stock has doubled since the Oct 2011 low, and that they still had a long way to go to get back to where it was.
Simple statement, hardly an apology from a "shill."

EJ,

Listen, you picked the lowest point of the stock, You can't see that's purely done to justify your point?

What is it that you feel the need to prove?
That your investment in Avid was a wise one?
Honestly, why are you so defensive about Avid's financials?

kasper

now go on have the last word, I'm done with you.
