Default Can't manually add MIDI note to first beat of clip

When I try to add a MIDI note to the first beat of a MIDI clip, PT does not allow it. It allows me to add the note anywhere else -- just not the first beat. Even if I drag an existing note over, it just disappears when I get it to the first beat.

This seems to be an issue with the clip boundary. The clip begins at 13 1 000. If I position the note to 13 1 001, the note appears. If I move the note to 13 1 000, it disappears (and no audio is played).

The weird thing is that there already are other notes on 13 1 000. They came "prepackaged" from a drum loop. I'm just trying to add a cymbal crash to the downbeat. I should note that I separated sections of the drum loop, and the issue seems to be specific to where the separations occurred. I suppose I can reconnect the clips into one, but shouldn't I be able to add a note to the first beat of a clip? The separations are "clean" and are at nn n 000 for each bar, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Put it in slip mode or set the mode you are using to 1/4 or 1/8 instead of 1/16 default and see if that helps.

We had a similar problem on 12.6 HD but on 12.7.1 HD it works as it should so i forgot we had that weirdness.

I think this is part of the ongoing MIDI issues that we are all having. What I notice is that grid measured clips in sequence will overlap and sometimes the first note in a clip will disappear.

Exactly, when I copy in grid mode a perfectly quantized clip the first note always disappear. This is unacceptable to say the least

Absolutely unacceptable for any DAW to have these major flaws in very basic
operation. MIDI is an intrinsic part of this stuff, and I don't understand why avid cannot rectify these things!

Because they are focused (or at least that's what it looks like) on Pro Tools First now.

Because its way more important to focus on the very popular "Collaboration" feature. :P

Yeah, very popular except for the greater majority of users... Avid is absolutely unbelievable!

Yes it is...

I also notice first notes that don't disappear visually but don't play, which is even more dangerous.

Pro tools used to be a great DAW, it's so sad.
