Default Poll - does anyone use \"block\" mode anymore?

Just checking. Would anyone miss it, and if so, why?

I do when I'm working with video, because I have a crappy video card. PT can't keep up in a large multitrack session if it has to playback the video and draw all of those waveforms. But I'm running 5.1.3 on a 10 year old computer. I wouldn't think that people with modern video cards would have this problem, but I guess I could be wrong.

But really, other than taking a little load off your video card, I can't see any other advantage to using it. So it's really just bestegial at this point because you can't put the newest version of PT on a G4 anyways.

Hi danny. The only track block mode is useful for is the video track. Even with the new way tools draws video frames in that track, my computer is still a little slower with frame mode on. I use continuous scrolling. That might be why. I could care less about block mode on audio tracks.
Best

I only use it on audio tracks when I'm playing a joke on somebody...I sometimes switch a colleague's view to all blocks when he's not looking. Great fun ensues.

Other than that, I never use it on audio tracks. I do use it on video tracks usually though.

I was just wondering this myself. Being a newer user to Pro Tools, I just find the block mode annoying. Especially when some of your tracks are using elastic time and others aren't. For some reason, a few of my tracks always end up being in block mode (I always use the hotkey, cntrl-option-command left and right to switch the views of everything together). I would love the option to be able to disable block mode for audio tracks.

I have never used it....

But since we are on the topic of regions, can you make a new color pallete? Some of those colors are just totally unusable on regions, maybe even black region with white wave, and vice versa?

Just an idea.
