Default Pan Automation Bug

Having a really weird occurrence with Pan Automation not being followed correctly.

In fact its very strange behaviour, where-by the track will slowly pan back to its original position before the first automation break point. Have thoroughly checked that there is no other automation on busses or masters.

The drifting can be proven to be a bug, by just by clicking on the pan pot, where it suddenly snaps back to the correct automation position, but then begins to drift almost straight away.

Can't find an easy way to recreate this, it just started happening in two completely different mix sessions.

Anyone else seeing this?

Can you post a screenshot of the edit window and the track, with track view set to pan ?

Better yet, post the session file so someone can confirm.

Here's a session that displays the issue.

https://www.yousendit.com/download/O...Y3kwVW5xYk1UQw

If I click to the left of the automation break point, the Sine tone is correctly panned, same if I click the play cursor to after the break point, it is heard correctly to the right.

However, if I play the session, the Sine tone is played incorrectly, erratically panned down the centre and can be "reset" to its correct automated position by clicking on the Pan fader, but it will then continue to drift. Please let me know if you see the same issue.

But.. after playing around with the breakpoints (delete one, put it back etc.) everything works fine.

Totally weird.
In that session, new automation 100% left, gave something like 50%/50% on the Aux1 indicator, and varying.

With the track "pan error" set to "samples", not "ticks", everything was normal.
After that, with the track set back to ticks again, everything was also normal.
Kind of a "reset".

I just started using PT11 (11.1.2) and this bug still exists. The above fix works.

The bug still exists in 11.3.1, which just cost me a couple of hours until I discovered this page. The fix also works which was a great relief.
