Default The MacBook that\'s not the MacBook Pro - Any good?

Hi All
I'm about to buy a new laptop for ProTools M-Powered and a Firewire Audiophile card. Does any of you guys know if the new low-end priced MacBook would do well with these components?
Regards
Andreas

Nobody knows becuase ProTools for Intel Macs hasn't been released. They're nice laptops though, I checked one out at the Apple store the other day, the screen alone made me drool for several minutes.

It appears that the only drawbacks to the Macbook is the limited screen size and the fact that the hard drive is only 5400 RPM.

thx for answering!
Got some more questions now though:
Will the 5400rpm hard disc affect the performance of Protools M-powered seriously?
Do you know when the Protools for the Macbook is released?
Regards,
Andreas

5400 RPM is the least you should have to power PT, go with a 7200RPM (I believe the Apple website allows you to upgrade the hard drive). The performance is going to lag a with a 5400 so you're not going to get the optimal speed. The release date for the PT update for intel macs is still unknown.

I wouldn't be all that concerned with using a 5400rpm OS/app drive since you should be recording to a separate drive anyway. With a decent amount of RAM you're not going to be hitting the internal drive all that much anyway, once things are loaded. For the best performance though, 7200rpm is of course faster. I don't think it'll make a huge difference though, assuming you're not trying to record to your OS drive.
