I'm kicking around the idea of picking up a second hand MTRX Studio, but I haven't personally owned any Avid/Digi hardware since my Command 8, so I'm a bit out of the loop.
Is it still necessary to have the seller and buyer jump through the hoops of the old Transfer or Ownership process in order to access the relevant downloads? This page would suggest that the process is still required: https://avidtech.my.salesforce-sites...s/faq/en363631 However, the Transfer of Ownership form it references is ancient and none of the links inside work anymore. You can find the "Service Transfer/Replacement Fee" by searching avid.com for that phrase, but it can't be accessed directly anywhere I can find. |

Yes, Transfer of Ownership is still necessary and that form still works, although antiquated.

Transfer of ownership costs something so you can avoid that fee. Only makes sense if the MTRX studio still has a valid warranty on the hardware (which you probably don't since the warranties are really short.)

Jeff do you mean warranty repair issue? I would hope this made no difference to any other repair/support from Avid.

We've simply found that performing a Transfer of Ownership helps expedite the process when customer service needs to be engaged, should an issue arise.

Based on my experience, it's easy to do the transfer of ownership, and worth it.
Also, they will need to transfer the iLok license "Digilink I/O" if you ever want to use the MTRX Studio with an HD Native or HDX card. I think iLok transfers are $25. |

No. Avid now bundles the digilink I/O with every Pro Tools Ultimate license. Which would be already needed to use the MTRX via digilink. So no extra license is need to be transferred.
