I've been following this thread since it started. I don't have an answer but wanted to share some thoughts. Is the 8K sound definitely coming from the speakers connected to the interface? I ask because I have experienced a soft hum that actually was caused but the video monitor interfering with the audio signal. It seems to only happen when certain graphics are being redrawn and stops when the redraws complete. Try moving the RME interface further away from your video monitor(s). Also avoid audio cables running parallel to video and power cables.

Default Re: Peep at 8khz

Hi again. Update
The story so far. This is on my pc with all the latest drivers and updates running on W10. All sound from the computer is turned of.
My interface is Gen 1 RME UFX

Noticed a noise at 8khz at a low volume. Search some forum and came to the conclusion that it might be usb related.
The noise starts as soon as i start some music and as soon as i stop it stands for 20 sec then it goes away, Same thing every time i play something.
I googled around and found a isolation box called Topping that had help for some person and i order it from Amazon.
As soon as i get it i try it and it did the job. The noise is gone and even some improvement in the sound quality occur. Maybe.

Now to the question why i bring it to this forum.
After a while in a session in protools the sound gets distorted like a wrong buffer setting and short thereafter it stop sounding. In protools all meters are running and it looks normal. At the same time i play a song on spotify and it works great. No noise and it just keep on going.
After a restart of PT it works again for a while then same thing again.
I then restart with the isobox disconnected with the same session and spotify running with no problem except the 8khz tone is back.
I buy a new usb cable and it did not change a thing. Same as above.
Tried all usb ports and it don't change a thing.
But when i connect to my laptop and run the latest driver from RME i do not have a nasty tone anymore.
Why does it only affect my pc and not my laptop??
Why does it affect Protools and not spotify??
Its not the Totalmix. I have gone over it twice and cant find any odd thing there. What is it that turn of the tone precisely 20 sec after i stop playback.
Im running out of ideas right now and will try another pc some day.
Right now im stuck. Help would be great. Thanks.

Today i tried another pc (my old studio pc ) and it worked great. It is the new pc thats making the noise. Now we will narrow it down eventually.
Making updates as i go along.
PC I7 and PT 23.3on W10 With RME UFX and some other stuff.
