Default Sustain Pedal issue

I've often had sustain pedal issues when using pro tools.

But the last session I did was super weird - all the sustain pedal movements that I recorded along with my virtual piano track were really early.

They are often buggy, but this was a whole new thing - every sustain was produced early much earlier than I did it.
Is this a bug? I def may be using the pedal slightly earlier than I should, but not by this margin. I'm a trained classical pianist so pedalling is something I'm accustomed too.

How good is the pedal you are using? Maybe it actually triggers with only the slightest pressure(unlike a real piano pedal)? Start by experimenting to see just how far you have to push the pedal for it to actually sustain(hoping a better pedal might help)

Early is strange. That does seem to be ProTools nudging them forward. Maybe a delay compensation thing? But I'd expect the MIDI to be early too.

Or did the MIDI notes themselves get nudged as well? I guess the question is, are the sustains in the correct place relative to the sus pedal events?
