? : Copying MIDI notes from one session to another
Okay, so ProTools just decided to delete an entire section of drum programming (I have no idea WTF is going on). Thank god I had all the MIDI session backed up, but I had changed other parts of the song since the back up, so I didn't want to overwrite everything with the backed up session's MIDI by using the Midi export/import stuff.
Here's my workaround: • Export the backed up MIDI (since you can't specify which track to export, it dumps all tracks in the session into a file) • Create a new session • Import the exported MIDI • Delete the tracks you don't need • Delete the sections you don't need (verse, chorus, etc.) • Export the trimmed-down MIDI • Open the damaged session • Import the trimmed-down MIDI • Copy the notes you want out of the imported MIDI track • Paste them as needed The fact that it took me ten steps in as many minute just to COPY and PASTE 16 bars of friggin' MIDI from one section to another makes no sense. Is there a SIMPLE way to copy specific notes of a specific track of Midi from one session to another?

Re: ? : Copying MIDI notes from one session to ano
Hi,
I didn't try this yet in PT but I can imagine that it would work like in other software. 1-Open backed up session. 2-Copy MIDI notes from the wanted track and close session. 3-Open latest (damaged) session. 4-Choose MIDI track and paste. Hope this works Ben

That was the first thing I tried, of course. It's logical. It's how every other application of any kind anywhere under the sun would work. You'd THINK it would work in ProTools, too... It doesn't.

Well what do you know!!!
It's not working... But... I found the nice and simple way to do it: 1-Open your session (the one that needs to be corrected) 2-File>Import tracks 3-Choose your backed up session 4-Choose the track you want to import and voilà! Works like a charm! Ben
