Where do we find Kontakt 8 ?

Hello all I cannot find where we download Kontakt 8 for ProTools latest version.I am up to date with my perpetual licence. Ive looked in my products and there is nothing there. Any help would be appreciated, thanks !

You should see a Native Instruments tab in My Products (it's not listed under Pro Tools Ultimate). It's Pro Tools Factory Essentials. Kontakt 8 gets installed with that package. You'll also need to install Native Access. I don't know if that's installed as part of the package or not -- I'd already had it installed.

@Eric Lambert - what happens to the Kontakt 7 libraries when you install K8? I know that they operate independently as instruments - but do the K7 libraries transfer automatically through Native Access?

Yes libraries show up in both. Anything already installed shows up in K8 automatically if the library shows up in Native Access.

The upgrade from 7 to 8 is seamless, and your libraries will continue to show up in K8, but the quick-load folders (if you've created any) will be lost. I have to set mine up from scratch each time. It's irksome.

But there's now no need to have Kontakt 7 at all. As long as you have 8 in your folder older ProTools session which used previous versions of Kontakt will import into K8, and from what I've seen and been told it does so without issues.

What I started doing with QuickLoad stuff is putting them all in a Folder within the Kontakt Factory Library/Instruments folder. I keep that at the top of my sidebar. It’s not -as- quick as QuickLoad, but still very convenient and hasn’t disappeared on me yet.

Thanks everyone - good to know. It is still pain to have all of the Kontakt versions still in my library / browser though - if I go to K8, then I will also have 6 & 7 in my NA library because apparently you can't remove them!
