Default Noob question regarding sample rate-music too slow

Hey guys-

I recently recorded a session using a Digimax LT into a 002. The session was recorded at 48khz. Unfortunately, the Digimax was borrowed, so now it's gone. However, I need to re-do a couple of the tracks, but I can't figure out how to change the 002 to work in 48khz. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

The session sample rate is set when you create a new session. The only way to change the rate is to do 'save session copy in', and specify a different sample rate. This creates a complete copy of the original session, and performs sample rate conversion on all the audio.

However, if the session is playing too slow, you had a mismatch between the session sample rate and the actual sample rate of the external device during tracking. And that's trickier to fix. My guess is that you had a 44.1K session clocking to an external device which was running 48k. So, you've got audio files which have inaccurate header information. Search this forum for Header Investigator, you'll find a way to doctor the wave files so the header information matches the data. Then you'll need to import the audio into a session set to the correct rate.

that's weird because I had the opposite problem. Before I upgraded to the latest Pro Tools (which keeps crashing on start up), I would transfer audio from my DAT recorded at 48kHz and opened a session also at 48kHz. But for some reason when I completed the edit and bounced to disc, the music sounded too fast.

so I tried transferring the audio again but this time I opened the session at 44.1kHz even though it did not match the header information. nonetheless, the music sounded fine (not sped up) and matched the audio in my DAT.

go figure.
