Default Pro Tools Reference Guide

Greetings all - On my iMac under Users>Documents>Pro Tools>Documentation, Pro Tools downloads the various Reference Guides, What's New, Audio Plug-ins Guides in PDF form. Often times, I delete all these PDFs to preserve room however, upon every launch of Pro Tools, the documents are downloaded again.

How can I prevent this from happening at each launch? This is not a huge issue but I remain curious why this happens.

I am running 2021.7 on OS X 11.6.

I think this is not avoidable. My guess is that this is similar to PT restoring missing avid standard plugins if thy're not present in PI folder. And I don't think it's 'downloaded', I think perhaps it's stored in the PT application itself, it's pretty big.

But seriously, these are pdfs that are so small! Forget about it. Anyway, if the ref guide is not present, I would think that it would not be available from the Help menu.

Ben is right. If it doesn’t see the files in the correct location when launching, it automatically copies them in there from the application itself.

The only way to stop that is to remove them from the application file. If you don’t know what you’re doing, I wouldn’t recommend it. If you do, right click the PT application and choose show package contents. From there, you can see the folder structure and navigate through and remove what you don’t want. You’ll need to find where the PDFs are located, but it shouldn’t be too difficult.

I once did this to remove the included plugins to try and track down and issue that I suspected might have been related to a factory plugin.

BTW, make a copy of the PT application so that you can revert back to it if you screw something up.

Thank you Ben and Sardi for taking time to answer. Your answers ease my mind so, I know longer need to allow this minor issues to occupy space in my head. I appreciate your kindness!
