Default Distortion at the end of midi clips when bussing / bouncing down???

I noticed this recently when doing sound design for a game i was working on. When bouncing a midi track to audio the tail is getting a weird kind of digital static / distortion. I tried just about everything to figure out what was causing it (removing all inserts, trying different synths, etc) but its still there. However, if i commit the midi as oppose to bus or bounce to disk, the distortion is no longer there. Check out this quick video i made of it. Curious what you guys think. This is an exaggerated example, but you get the the idea. Id suggest using headphones to hear it.

Do you commit at 32 bit float? How did you bounce, which settings? What is the session format?

Session format is 44.1 / 16. Bounce is the same. Im getting these same results whether i bounce to disk or just bus to an audio track in the session. Commit is me just right clicking the region and selecting commit.

This is on a Mac running both 2020.11 and 2021.6.

Well, i just discovered what appears to be the issue. I did a save copy in at 96khz and that didnt change anything. I then bumped up the session to 24-bit (44.1) and rebounced and the distortion / static is now gone.

Im a bit embarrassed for not catching this earlier!

Edit: Once this bounce is converted down to 16 bit the distortion / static is back
