AAE error -9173 stronger than ever on PT 12.5

Since using Pro Tools I have encountered this AAA-9173 error consistently. I have done several Pro Tools upgrades and I am finally using 12.7 and I still get this error about every 10 min or so. I have disabled Click II, Uninstalled Cloud services and optimized my Windows 10 according to Avids's requirements and I still get this error. I have a new HP laptop running Windows 10 64 bit, i7 processor with 12G's of ram and a Focusrite Scarlet audio interface. When I mix down audio files I can run 50+ files with tones of plugins without one single crash. But when I use Midi to create a song it crashes with just a drum kick and snare. I have done everything to fix this issue, and cannot do so. It seems this issue has been going on for YEARS!!! and its still not resolved. I need this issue fixed ASAP.

I will post their response back and hopefully I can get this issue fixed and share it with everyone. Be back soon.

I had a problem with AAE-9173 on Soundcraft madi/USB combo card. My problem was with buffer size. Soundcraft Si can go up to 4096 but PT (12.7 perpetual on Lenovo X260 i5 8Gb RAM) only to 1024.
When I set value "AUTO" on driver id did not work.
After hard setting to 1024 on the dirver, the PT automatcaly detected the right value.

I'm using PT only to record multitrack from live performance and than post porduction if it is worth of it. :)

12.7 HDX on 10.12.2 Sierra. Simple tracking - 3 mics - acoustic guitar. Start every session with 1 to 3 - 9173 errors that stops a recording. DSP use is tiny - one Native Reverb. Strangely after this initial bout - rarely get any errors for next couple of hours (rest of the session).

Hi Alex

Thanks for making contact with Avid Customer Care.
We are sorry for your inconvenience.
And also we are very sorry for our slow response.

We got the same kind of report from many customers recently
and looked into their .dlog files and found that
in most cases, the issue was caused by some 3rd party plugins including:

Magic AB
Waves plugins
Brainworx plugins
BlueCat Patchwork
Native Instrument plug-ins
and
UAD plug-ins.

Please Push + Hold "Shift" key and double-click on the specific session.
In this way, the session will launch with all the plug-ins inactive.
You can make each 3rd party plug-in one by one to see which one is causing this issue.

Sometimes the specific plugin needs to be removed from the plug-in folder to resolve the issue.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins

Please also try "import session data” without all the plug-in and settings.

If you cannot specify which plug-in is causing the issue and still gets the error.
Please send me a pro tools’ .dlog file.

The most widely used plugins are causing the problem... Wouldn't that point to a problem with Pro Tools rather than the plugins?

1. Don't buy anymore Avid products.
2. Tell others not to buy Avid products.
3. Avid will fix the 9173.

So these 9173 errors have made Pro Tools 12.5 and up unusable for nearly a year now? Does it really take that long to find out what's going on? If we didn't have to pay annually it would be okay (sorta) but this is ridiculous.

Amen to that. This makes me so angry. Every day every 5 minutes at least. More on some sessions hardly at all in some. It gets even worse if you have certain plugin windows open and forget about making selections in the midi editor as the music is playing. I have a feeling it is linked to the graphics.
