Default Does this make since???

Hey guys,

I haven't been on here for quite some time. This is mainly because I bought a Mac and stopped having problems with Pro Tools...Until today. I was trying to bounce down a song I just mixed. It would get through the first verse and then stop and give an error. Something about the DAE couldn't get audio from the drive fast enough, then on about something to do with the increase in bandwidth, then also that it could be CPU overload. I had my playback engine set a 1024 samples. Then tried doubling that. Still same problem. Just now, I cut it down to 512 samples and the bounce worked the first time I tried! Why would it work when I DECREASE from 1024 samples to 512 samples? The session is 96 khz 24 bit. Here is my set up.

macbook
2 GB RAM
External H/D (firewire)
M-Audio FW 1814

Did you change the DAE buffer size? If that is too large, it won't get the audio fast enough to bounce it.

that answers my question...thanks! Yes, I was changing the buffer size. For some reason, I thought the higher the buffer size, the better while bouncing so as not to overload CPU. Guess not. Thanks!
