HELP WITH CONNECTING ADAT TO FW1814???
Hey guys,
I just recently bought the Behringer ada 8000 mic preamp to use for remote recordings with my fw1814 and m-powered set up. I have connected the adat out of the 8000 to the adat in of the fw1814. That is all I have connected and I don't know how to get it to show up in pro tools as an available input. I looked in the hardware settings and played around but nothing is working...WHAT DO I DO??? seth |

Re: HELP WITH CONNECTING ADAT TO FW1814???
You need to make sure your I/O setup is set to the default (or at least set up to input and output on all 16 channels)
Maybe my tutorial page will help you?

Re: HELP WITH CONNECTING ADAT TO FW1814???
1)First of all, you have to use 2 opti cables, to plug both ins and outs of 1814 and ADA together, otherwise you wont be able to sync propperly.
2)Second, config your 1814 driver(at sysprefs or applications), in order to turn on digi ins an outs and to use ADAT instead off s-pdif(at hardware panel). make shure that you choose the option to sync internally(sync externally doesnt work right sometimes). At that point, if you did everything right, the "lock" light at ADA shoud be always on(If not, try to turn of your computer, then turn off your 1814, wait 30 secs then turn everything on again. DO NOT turn your 1814 on when your computer is running, or you risk to burn it out!!!). 3) try to plug a signal in to one of the ADA ins, launch the 1814 driver and look at inputs monitor to see if there is some signal. if not, check everything back again. If it is, so your driver is configured and you just have to config your protools ins and outs. 4) Launch protools, open any session and choose setup ins/outs. At the in/out setup window, press the default button, so protools will automatically recognize your digi ins an outs from ADA and include then at your setup. Note that the names correspond to the numbers of ins and outs of your 1814 AND ADA alltogeter, so your ADA ins should be numbered 9 to 16(since 1 to 8 belong to 1814). Same logic with outs. 6) After that, select the plugged digital in at your track in the proper field, record enable the track and you shold be able to see the sound comming in. Thats it. Hope it helps.
