I have had issues with latency using Pro tools 12 and I'm wondering if upgrading to Pro Tools Ultimate would help me with latency issues?
I have an Apollo Twin and an iMac 5k with 32gb of memory running High Sierra 10.13.3 Yes, I follow best practices regarding reducing latency and have followed Avid's suggestions to no avail. -Joe |

No. Regular or Ultimate with the same audio interface will have the same latency

Thank you for the quick reply.
What is the most affordable audio interface that Avid sells that would help reduce or eliminate latency? |

Are you monitoring off the Apollo or back from PT?
If you monitor from your interface, you should be able to get indistinguishable latency. Buying an AVID interface to reduce your latency is going to require you moving into HD territory. It’s a big change and a serious investment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

With Apollo, you have 2 things to consider;
#1-if you wish to track using any UA plugins, you MUST monitor thru the UA mixer window. #2- AFAIK, plugins inserted directly on Pro Tools tracks will all suffer over 1000 samples of latency(so its better procedure to insert the plugins in the UA mixer). That's the beauty and the curse of Apollo ![]()

Yes to all the above,
Monitor through the Apollo Console App and you will have no "Major" latency. Problems arise when your PT buffer is super high and monitoring through Apollo but recording Midi.....(this will cause you to loose your mind). When recording midi always lower your PT buffer to the lowest possible setting to minimize your midi latency.
