Smack! or McDSP CompressorBank Compressor Bank Native?
That is my simple question for experienced users...

Re: Smack! or McDSP CompressorBank Compressor Bank Native?
I've had both for a while.
I find myself phlling up the compressor bank way more often because I seem to get the sound I want faster. It just seems to have more instant mojo. |

Thank you.
When you're saying it like that, it sounds like both are old news... |

Re: Smack! or McDSP CompressorBank Compressor Bank Native?
I was wondering the same thing as well.
I heard that Smack was pretty decent, but then thought, if it was really worth getting it if you already have Waves and McDSP stuff |

Re: Smack! or McDSP CompressorBank Compressor Bank Native?
I have the compressor bank le version and use it frequently on single tracks where it performs well. For bus and sum compressing or solo instruments with attitude I more and more enjoy Nomad Factory's MCL-2269. I am not a Waves fan boy at all and don't know what they had going on recently.

Re: Smack! or McDSP CompressorBank Compressor Bank Native?
Any other opinion please?
The truth is that I have a hardware compressor ( Joemeek), but despite the good reviews, I am not satisfied with it. So I am trying to decide here. Any suggestion is highly apreciateed. |

I have Smack! LE and the Waves CLA, CLA kicks complete ass!!!! Love the colors and attitude I can get when I want and still be able to get the familiar smooth sounds when I want.

Re: Smack! or McDSP CompressorBank Compressor Bank Native?
Compressor bank is fantastic and has much more to offer than smack, on ebay smack licenses go for pennies so it's worth getting if only for the fact it's cheap, i find it useful for parallel compression but thats about it. Compressorbank is defintly my 'Go-to' compressor with massey's not too far behind.
If you hang on theres a new mcdsp compressor being released in May which looks like it emulates pretty much every type of compressor ever made. Nomad Factory are well worth a look also, they make excellent plugins that perform well in Pro Tools with out all the BS of buying waves plugins.
