Default Re: AAE ERROR 9416 - the greatest mystery error ever?

Hey Jeff,

Same over here. Randomly in 3 instances:
1. Importing existing stereo audio track from another session, select audio w I-Beam = 9416 w hangup then had to force quit. No system report.

2. After trashing prefs, running disk utility and reboot, playback of original audio (not imported audio) in this same session caused random 9416 error. No hangup this time. Quit, rinse, repeat ( pref trash, disk utility, reboot)

3. Different session editing MIDI with trim tool on an instrument track (Kontakt 7) caused 9416. No force quit needed but did it anyway. Quit, rinse, repeat.

Today, I duplicated the session folder (1) and have been working off that session. So far, no 9416 errors (3 hours into this mix).

Setup:
PT 24.10.1
Carbon Extended
Samsung T9 SSD Record Drive -> TB port on 2021 M1 MBP w Sonoma 14.6.1
Samsung T9 Sample Drive -> TB port on CalDigit TB3 -> MBP TB port

I'm getting this error on a regular basis as well. I'm running 2024.6 on a Mac Studio M1 Ultra with 64GB ram. It happens only when I'm editing. Occasionally repeated errors lead to a crash, but more often then not they just stop appearing after a few instance and return to normal operation. it seems like the error often appears when I drop the cursor in the time line, change a zoom setting, or make some other navigational action. Not sure though - it's very hard to recreate. I'd love to get rid of them though!

Its not fixed yet, as I said its in progress but the hope is they can to squash it for the next release.

Let me know.....

This thing has been an annoyance for me for a long time, particularly as there's zero information about it, so it must be rare, so there must be something unique about the systems that are getting it... the issue is figuring out that is.

Will PT generate a crash log if it doesn't crash? The error just pops up, then goes away when I clock OK and then reappears without any logical trigger other than it usually seems to occur while looping and/or copying/pasting files.

Thanks,

Myles

I came here to try and find some clue why I'm getting this error in almost every session. I'm so happy to see it's been identified and is being worked on. Thank you for sharing that news.
