I believe this issue is related to the Shoe Tool. See here please:

M4Pro mini OS15.2 PT Ultimate - the method described in the Avid link does not work for me. Someone else mentioned getting an error on the 2nd Terminal command but it still working, not the case for me (Load failed: 5: Input/output error
Try running `launchctl bootstrap` as root for richer errors.) Have there been any updates to the methodology to get rid of this prompt on every launch? It's still the shoetool...TIA |

This is likely just the sudo command asking for your normal macOS account password. What happens if you try some innocuous command with sudo. Like $ sudo date Get that to work first. |

Sorry I wasnt more clear. I was referring to this Avid fix posted above. https://avidtech.my.salesforce-sites...er-tool-prompt The fix was in the Terminal App. I was able to follow the script/ fix until I was prompted for my Apple user PW, and the terminal would not accept/ recognize my typing of my password. I also tried copying and pasting the PW as the previous entries were copied from the Avid script. so...I was never able to complete the linked Avid remedy, as for some reason I could not input my PW, a necessary part of the linked fix/ script.

Please note that the terminal doesn't show you typing the password for safety reasons. Just type it in and hit enter. Also keep in mind that you need to enter the password of your macOS account (what you enter when signing into your Mac), not your Avid account password or anything
Lastly if you go to System Settings > Login Items > Allow in Background, please make sure that "Pro Tools" is allowed to run in the background. |

Either you are doing something wrong, or your system has sudo permissions increased (normally any user account on macOS with administrator privileges can run sudo but it's possible to still restrict sudo use. So what *exactly* do you seen happening on the screen? |

It is, and this is the strange part of all of this. No auto updates, no manual updates, no system changes. just a few days ago it started asking for the helper file

Can you uninstall Pro Tools using FreeMacSoft's AppCleaner?
Note that AppCleaner uninstalls ALL Pro Tools-related files so ALL OF YOUR PREFERENCES, including keyboard shortcuts, presets, and so on, will be DELETED It gives you the list of files it's targeted before it deletes them, so you can back everything up. Then reinstall Pro Tools. That will give you a completely clean install like on day one. If this is not an option for you, I'm afraid the best option you have is to ask Avid support about it FYI this may be a file permission issue so if you can figure out where the helper installs its stuff, maybe you can find out where the problem lies |

Not sure if you know or not, but following your linked fix/ script. after step 6 "launch Pro Tools", it once again, asks me to "instal helper tools". there is no mention in the script about this pop up, and whether or not I should allow it to install the helper tool, before moving to step 7, all the terminal stuff. thanks in advance
