I have a Mac M1 mini - 1 GB ethernet
I suppose if you have a different kind of tablet you could try that.

I only have a single TP-Link unit, which provides Wifi for the tablets and LAN ethernet for the control surfaces. The IP is different from the home Linksys network. (192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1) and provides a completely different WiFi network from the home network. (SSID LinksysHome vs Eucon_5G)

l
Sounds like you have the wifi and the LAN on different sub-nets? (192.168.1.x and 192.168.0.x) they need to be on same the network to be able to interact. What you describe sound like a network issue to me (devices being "seen" via mDNS which is broadcast traffic across all nets but coms can't be established because TCP/UDP can't flow as they are on different sub-nets IPs).

But hard to diagnose from what you describe.

Yes, I tried it with iPad 8th Gen, FireHD10 11th Gen and my iPhone 12 Pro

All connect just fine and function perfectly apart from the meter stalling.

Thanks for the reply: both Wifi and ethernet LAN are on the same IP 192.168.0.x

The other HOME network is simply supplying a DHCP internet connection to the studio's router. HOWEVER, as I stated before I did a test - reinstalled the entire PT and EUCONTROL softwares, and did not connect the internet connection, only the dedicated studio router, remounted all surfaces with the same problem.

Still stumped here.

Can I just confirm...when you say "both Wifi and ethernet LAN are on the same IP 192.168.0.x" This is the router not the Mac? You don't have both Ethernet and wifi turned on the Mac?

This would lead me to believe that you have an issue with your networking setup or that TPLink router, or as Eddie has asked, you have both ethernet and wifi turned on in the Mac for your Eucon network.

Hey Eddie,

Correct - the dedicated studio router (Eucon_5G) that connects all the surfaces and tablets via WiFi shows an ethernet connection to the Mac at the address 192.168.0.102.

The Home network that is NOT connected in any way to the system has an address on the 192.168.1.x

Ethernet is the TOP selection in Network prefs and ALL the others are turned OFF including WiFi.

Thanks Phil

It is not that. I have checked all the immediately related settings mentioned here and am completely at a loss.

I have been working on and consulting on Pro Tools for 27 years and I have no idea what is up!!

Have you turned off the home network router. Then restarted everything?

Congratulations. Many folks offering help in here have decades of experience consulting and working with Pro Tools. Nobody is questioning your experience or expertise in the field. We are simply trying to offer suggestions as to what might be the issues in your system or setup. You should know, as someone with you level experience, that trying to troubleshoot a problem without being hands on or in person is extremely difficult and requires a lot of questions and back and forth dialog.

Since your issue seems to be a lone issue that is isolated to your system only, logic would dictate that this is something within your system, devices, network, etc. For comparison, I am running 4 tablets, 3 S1's, 1 Dock, on a dedicated Eucon network and have zero issues with metering, dropouts, connections, etc. The only difference between my setup and yours is A) the type of router B) I'm using a USB-C to Ethernet adapter to connect the Eucon network to my Mac Studio.

If I were in your shoes, the two things I would try are 1. a different router for your Eucon network. 2. USB-C to Ethernet adapter to connect that network to your Mac. What worked before or not is not of importance here. What is of importance is eliminating any variables that could be causing these networking bottlenecks in your system. Alternatively, you could try hardwiring the ipads to the router and skipping wifi altogether but that would require a handful more of adapters.
