Best RAM for Macbook Pro

Macbook Pro, 2011 Model, 15". Looking to buy and install 2 X 8 GB Ram.

Does the brand of RAM matter? I've been reading reviews, and getting somewhat confused. Looking on New Egg, OWC, ebay, etc. Brands like: Crucial, Corsair, G.Skill, Patriot, Mushkin, etc.

Price varies, of course, but reviews do as well. Some people write, "makes my laptop run hot", "didn't like packaging", "kernel panics", etc.

What's the "right" stuff to get?

OWC or Crucial both meet or exceed Apple's standards for RAM, there may be a few others that do now as well, but those 2 have been solid w/Apple machines for quite a long time now. I've use OWC RAM in all my machines and clients machines for nearly a decade and have only had one instance of needing to take advantage of their lifetime warranty when a chip went bad.

Buying RAM is definitely about finding a balance between price and reliability. Go cheap and you'll definitely get burned, but if you pay top dollar (i.e. buying direct from Apple) you're getting ripped off.

So far seems good.

I've got OWC - no problems with it.
