The **BEST** pop filter....
I'm amazed...I was at a used computer store a month ago, and an old used anti-glare filter for a computer monitor jumped out at me and said "I'm a pop filter"...I brought it home and stuck it in front of my U-87...OhMyGosh, I've been thru commercially availiable ones, done the panty-hose-on-macrame' hoop trick, but NOTHING is as good as this!!!!NOTHING!!!!
I've not heard a tiny peep from a pop in weeks now, and my gals' vocals have become crystal clear during the worst of puffs!!! The trick, of course, is that the anti glare filter is woven out of some really fine stuff, much finer than any "real" pop filter I've ever seen.....just thought I'd share this.... here's a photo... http://www.heartmagic.com/popscreen.jpg [This message has been edited by Gary Stadler (edited February 28, 2000).] |

Re: The **BEST** pop filter....
I just purchased the Stedman Pop-Screen and I love it. It's very small and totally does the trick...It's a metal screen with holes drilled in a special way to force pops downward (something like that). Check it out!

Re: The **BEST** pop filter....
Steadman is the way to go. I have 5 of them.
Lucian .They have two kind of them .One with the guss neck and one without. I don't understand why nobody's coming up with a way of mounting it in the stand. All of them have a stupid scrue that will ruine your stand. I came up with a solution that works perfect. YOu know the clamps that you can buy from Sears to hold two peaces of wood together. That's what I use. Easy to put on easy to take out and now more bad looking microphone stands. |

Re: The **BEST** pop filter....
I have found that with the stedman you can sometimes get a metalic type hiss if you have someone too close and they are blowing a lot of air. P's and F's and such. With the older style popper stoppers this is not the case. However, the cool thing about a stedman is that you can wash it after someone with a cold has been spitting into it all day
