Default High Pitched Hum?

Recently I've noticed a high pitched hum sound appears when ever I start a program that requires the use of my Mbox 2.
I have checked my cables, all o.k.
It's not the Imac as I've tried another sound card and it worked fine, so what is it?
Please help, got to go now, the baby crying.
