DV TK 2 license Q.

Hi, just a quikky re: DV Toolkit 2 licence/iLok.

Once upgraded to DV Toolkit 2 for Pro Tools LE 8, is the licence/iLok still backwards compatible with ver.6 & 7? i.e. can you use the same iLok on 2 different machine's; one with ver.7 & one with ver.8 of PT's? Mac & PC?

HI Phil I have had the DV TK2 for three years now, I use it on two machines now both with ver 8 but it worked fine when I was on ver 7 too.

The licence is on the i-lok so you can move it from one machine to another with no problems.

The only possible general thing is with file formats I dont know if you did a session on ver8 if it will down load to ver7.

I am sure someone will advise you regarding this, I am on ver8 as both machines need to be the same and the new track count is a great bonus.

I use the iLok between 2 systems already - both with PT's LE 7.4 installed with DV Toolkit 2 (one Mac, the other Windows). This works fine...

I'm going to upgrade the Mac to a Mac Pro for Avid MC 3.5 & PT's LE 8 with DV TK 2. Once I've purchased PT's 8, then the DV TK 2 (ver.8) updater, will the same iLok that now has the PT's ver.8 licence for DV TK2 still work with ver.7 of PT's?

I would assume this to be the case, but assumption can be a rude awakening sometimes... I want to keep a ver.7 of Pro Tools going because it is so stable and for compatibility with 3rd party plugs etc.

I dont think the version is updated on the l-lok only on the host mac so you should be able to use v7 and v8 on two machines with the same l-lok.

When I went to v8 I dont recall that I had to do anything l-lok related.

Is anyone else using DV Toolkit 2 iLok/licence between PT's 7 & PT's 8 LE rigs? I want to make sure that it's backward compatible before upgrading...

Yes, it's fine Phil. make sure you get the updaters for DVTk in your PT8 installation, though!
