Pro Tools Express wont see iLok

Ok, Im helping out a friend that just purchased this new with the mini. I have HD and never had an issue with ilok befoe.

You can see the license in the ilok and its activated but pro tools don't see it.

Help please, I am to busy to be wasting my time with this.
I live in Florida and he lives in NY so I use Teamviewer to get in his computer.

Not much info to go on there.

What exact OS? What exact version of Express? The current 10.3.4 version? Is that combination even a supported configuration?

How do you know it does not "see the iLok" vs. have some other issue? What exactly is happening? What exact error message?

And the device drivers are installed for the interface, and the interface is connected and powered on (Express *needs* that interface to work)?

Current iLok software is installed?

What have you done to debug this? System info needed etc. Start at the "Help us Help You - READ THIS Before Posting!" link above on this page. If no progress then a SiSoft Sandra report often helps.

I tried everything in the book but I just remembered that he has win8.\

Pro Tools Express 10.3
Win8
Current Ilok manager is installed.

Mbox is plugged in and drivers are installed.

You can see the license active on his Ilok within the manager.

When opening PT it says "Error missing Ilok"

Well of course Pro Tools Express (or otherwise) is not currently officially supported on Windows 8.x. Folks do have it running OK. Still I would gave picked Windows 7 Pro for a newbie user.

If you want help here you'll likely need to be much more precise/detailed in your replies.

We cannot guess what book you are lookign at. It would help if you listed exactly what you tried.

What drivers are isntalled? Device driver versions?

What exact Pro Tools Express version? Are you trying to use 10.3.4? If not unisntall it and start again (if that links I gave is not working, or Google for it/or search Avid's home page for the download).

Found the problem, he screwed up the ilok process. Thanks for the help.

Hey great. Can you say what he did wrong? There is a few folks who have mentioned similar problems (fixed by reinstalling everything) and maybe its the same cause?

Well, it was more like human error. Instead of putting in his ilok ID on the avid website he put the ilok id number from his ilok. LOL
