2 track editing 2nd room m-box?
Hi All,
Thinking of opening a second room. Curently have a mix plus. Since I will only be doing 2 track editing I was wondering your thought on m-box? if i use the digital spidif in will it sound the same as my 888 aes digital in? need to stay pro quality as I work on major label records. Any thoughts? thx... |

Re: 2 track editing 2nd room m-box?
Just use an AudioMedia III card with Sound Designer II or Peak.
I mix to a second computer this way and it works perfectly. MBox with Pro Tools LE is a little overkill and a little akward as you have to work with Dual Mono files.

Re: 2 track editing 2nd room m-box?
I like the editing features of protools- use to use sd2. I'm concerned about the quality of m-box when you go digital in spidif as oposswed to the 888 aes digital. Anybody have expierience with this? thx

Re: 2 track editing 2nd room m-box?
for all practical purposes, if you are doing a digital transfer out of the 888 SPDIF out to the MBOX SPDIF in, then there should be no loss.
But, Why would you go through all that trouble of rerecording the session when you could just transfer the session file over to the second computer via Network, CDROM, SCSI, or Firewire??? You may still need an MBOX or AudioMedia in order to run the LE software, but it would sure save you some hassle versus recording the two tracks over to the second computer the long way. |

Hey ........
why not save money and try ProTools free for your 2 track editing.....it' saves you over $400 bucks. With $400 bucks you could buy your woman a few "I Love You" cards so she won't B#&^h when you're in the studio all day every day doing what you really love. Re: 2 track editing 2nd room m-box?
Technically........If the levels, sync, bit & sample rates are the same, it should sound the same. But I never tested the quality of my USB ports for use with audio...
maybe someone else in DUC has.
