Default thunderbolt adapter?

HI guys,

Using a 3rd gen mbox pro ( firewire ).

Forgive my naivete.
Do those firewire to thunderbolt adapters work well?

Im using mbox pro - firewire drive - imac now - PT 10 now,and am considering purchasing a new laptop to take out of town, and would bring mbox pro with.
Just wondering if I'd have any issues, since new computers don't have firewire
inputs.

Thanks.

Assuming your interface drivers can be installed on the OS on the computer you are purchasing, you will be fine.

New Mac with exactly what OS? Some future OS? Who knows.

You really need to get comfortable with starting by trying to answer this yourself, finding the Avid driver download page and understanding what is supported. You are looking for OS, driver and Pro Tools version compatibility. If it is not offically supported then ask around here to find out if folks are using it OK. And you need to worry about this and lots more any time you think about updating anything.

Here is the MBox 3 Pro driver page... http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...ox-Pro-Drivers

Thankyou Darryl. I will look into it.
I guess it's never as easy as I'd like. :)

Cheers.

Yep, it is often a PITA, which is why I want you to know how to do this yourself, as if you don't it will bite you in future. But for most things the answer is just don't try to be anywhere near the leading edge of OS X upgrades unless you have a specific need to do that... but the problem then is (as you are having now) what happens when you buy a new Mac. And most new Macs can't be downgraded to older OS X releases.
