Default Will I be entitled to a PT11 upgrade?

Hi everyone,
I am a student in college and I believe I am eligible for the student version of Pro Tools. Consequentially though, I am very poor as all college students are. I would like to get a copy of Pro Tools 10 or preferably 11, but was wondering a few things...

One dealer offered to sell me a student copy of PT10 for a little less than $220. I could also get PT11 for ~$290. I would really like to get PT11 especially for the 64-bit and offline bouncing, however, spending $70 just for those two features is a stretch – albeit a tempting one.

If i get PT10 and register it this week, will I be eligible for the free student upgrade to PT11? Or did I have to register before PT11 came out? If not, is it really worth the extra $$$ to get PT11?

Thanks,
JGAN

Is the 10 new or used?

11 is the path forward, with 10 you are stuck with older OSs and no major updates

If it was a regular license you would get the update from 10 to 11 when you registered, but being a student license I don't know I'll ask but I woun't expect an answer until tomorrow.

Purchases of older versions require verification.

After registering Pro Tools 10 (student or non-student version), you would be asked to provide a copy of the sales receipt to Avid customer service in order to receive a free upgrade to Pro Tools 11.

As long as the seller is an authorized Avid reseller, you shouldn't have any problem buying old stock (PT 10) from them as long as they can provide you with a valid sales receipt.
