Default New Mbox plays back at wrong sample rate

Ok, lets try this again....lol

Just migrated to Pro tools from Cubase. Picked up the NEW Mbox with PT LE 8.0.4 along with Toolkit 2 last Fri. Problem I'm having, when I import files into ProTools it's not at the same sample rate as was recorded, in other words, it plays back at 1/2 speed. I opened up one of my Cubase projects, chose the MBox as my Interface and the entire project is now at the wrong sample rate as well.

So I switched back to my other interface (my trusty line 6 UX2 lol) and sample rates in Cubase returned to normal. I'm sure it has something to do with setting up the MBox, like I said, same problem when I imported the Demo file of the song into PT.

I have tried importing MP3 files and Wave Files. MBox is USB 2.0 about a 4' cable (the one that came in the box). Tried switching out cables to no success. I've tried creating numerous projects at different sample rates but it hasen't solved the issue. I've done the optimization guide, and searched the knowledge base as well as 2 days of non stop googling to find a fix. Disable Host is unchecked and IE8 is removed from my computer (it barely ever goes on line anyways). I have Quicktime on my computer but not iTunes. Onboard audio is disabled.

I have 2 HDs on my computer. Drive C: is my OS and Drive E: is my audio HD. Both HDs are Sata 32 mb cache. Lots of room on both HDs.

The MBox is currently set up at 24/48 with a buffer size of 512.. A push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated :)

My specs are in my sig below.

Thanks in advance :)
Gabriel

I'm having similar problems (thread in the Mac area). Is all you audio at the wrong speed? Or is it just when you import audio and play it back in pro tools? If you play a mp3 in media player or something?

Yeah everything I import is at the wrong speed, like slow motion regrdless of what my rates are at. I double checked this by going into a cubase project and setting up the mbox at the exact settings the project is at and same problem. As soon as i swithed back to my other I/O, the project played back at the proper sample rate again. I have the latest firmware and drivers for the MBox. Very perplexed right now. I want to get into the recording aspect already, this is really holding things up lol.

Best

Ok, I guess it's the same problem I have then. I've tried everything I can think of (including testing on a different machine) and still the sound is always slow thru the Mbox. Mine is packed for return to the shop, but I'm still hoping Digisup will come back with a simple solution (a "reset hardware" or something..)

Well i'm pretty sure it's a driver/firmware issue. I work in the computer repair, custom build and software support industry so I think i know what I'm doing when it comes to PCs lol. I've spent from Fri evening till this morning googling for solutions. LOTS of folks are having the exact same issue with no resolve.

Have to remember, it's a brand new piece of hardware so glithes are to be expected. I just hope it gets resolved soon :)

Yes, but what I find odd is that it's like that on my mac so a driver issue should have been spotted in testing. I guess it could be the firmware, but then a replacement would probably be quicker than waiting for an application to reset/update the firmware I think. I'd realy like to hear if digi techsup has had any luck reproducing this!

Ok, just got off the phone with Digitech support (very proffesional and helpful btw). Avid is aware of this issue and the problem is NOT on our end. It's fualty unit/s. Like I was saying, new piece of hardware and we can expect glitches. I suggest you call up support ASAP and they will get you straightened out:)

Well I'm still a noob to PT but decided to mess around with it a bit while waiting for my fix.

I've found that if you check "TICK", choose "Varispeed" for your elastiuqe, then go to your transport, click and hold on your BPM you can speed up your audio. For e.g. My project was originally at 120bpm. I dragged it up 20 BPM to 140 BPM and got it to play at the correct speed. Seems like the sample rate in the new MBOX is off by 20BPM, at least on my machine. Not a permanent fix but at least you can use this workaround in the meantime :)
