External Hard Drive Question?
What features should I look for in getting an external firewire hard drive? My Dell laptop 40GB is already over half full. Thinking about getting a 80GB external. Would this work:

Re: External Hard Drive Question?
Greetings....Most manufacturers have compatible units. LaCie, Maxtor, etc. Just as long as they can spin at 7200 rpms or more you should be fine. The price between an 80 gig and a 160 are only about $30 or $40 bucks apart. Thrust yourself forward and plan ahead. Get the 160 or a 250 gigger. You will be glad you did as time goes on. The tendancy is to use more and more HD space and 80 gigs will seem like nothing later in the game. I have 700 gigs of storage and I am looking at getting more because mine are almost full. YIKES!!! (yes......we record a bunch : )

Re: External Hard Drive Question?
The drive referenced in your link is a USB 2.0 drive. You mentioned Firewire in your question, so I just wanted to make sure you are aware that this is NOT a Firewire drive.
That said, I regularly use USB 2.0 drives with my 001 and Mbox systems with no problems. Mike
