Default OS X Mountain Lion still best for TDM / HD10 systems

Hi guys
I'm doing a fresh install on my mates 2010 cheese grater
Is Mountain Lion still the best OS X for
HD3 / TDM / PT HD 10.3.10
Any tips to getting the system and PT to run the best it can?
thanks in advance from Australia....

Yes you are right, 10.8.5 is the latest supported OSX for PT10 -- however, as there will never be another update to PT10 and most likely quirck on running 10.9.5 Mavericks is that Uninstaller does not work, just try it if the OS version gives you something you need.

I myself am running PT10 on OSX 10.9.5 without problems.

Thanks
Very interesting.
To put my mate on Mavericks would require a video card upgrade
Which is no problem as I have a spare here
Do you notice HD10 running more stably amd more snappy on Mojave?

PT10HD will not run on anything later than 10.9.5 -- that is the end of the road.

Oops
You said Mavericks not Mojave
My mistake.
So my question now is...
Does HD10 run nicer and more stable on Mavericks than Mtn Lion?

I didn't feel much difference to be honest, but at that time there was some OS feature I felt like needing so decided to try Mavericks. Was happy enough for the performance so didn't downgrade to Mountain Lion. Am using the system on live gigs for what it is worth, very stable. Cannot remember if it was even more stable on supported config but as you do not need Uninstaller any longer, I have just forgot it to that setup.

Same here on mavericks since 2020 and no issues so far with magma chassis, lots of sonnet hard drives chassis too.

I moved to mavericks because messages is working fine so far but could have stayed on ML too.

Was on Snow Leopard since its release till I moved to ML almost 2 or 3 years ago.

Hi!
Can I install 10,8 over 10.6.8?

I Have a Pro Tools HD2 PCI-e running Pro Tools HD10.3.10, installed on a MAC Pro 2,1 with 14 GB RAM. It is being doing fine for years but I miss the capability of using some newer plugins, which requirements are 10,8 and even 10.9 ( Ozone 8, LANDR, RX).

I installed in the past over versions with no problems.

Any info is appreciated!
Thanks

I would clean install 10.9 now, carefully optimisimg the system and then make a clone to a safe place in case the old hard deive gives up and you needed to reinstall anyway. That's what I did for my PT10 system anyway. Have not found anything too much of a problem, except uninstaller will not work on 10.9 but it is useless as there will not be any updates coming anymore.

I second the clean install. Who knows what kind of left over code from Snow Leopard will still be hanging around in your system.
