The best time stretching app..
I’m just curious to know what everyone thinks is the best time stretching app for samples these days. I’ve noticed that there are big differences between the ones offered as standard with avid’. Serato Pitch 'n Time Used to be the one to beat. Is that still the best or are there less expensive options that do just as well?

Re: The best time stretching app..
The current Pitch 'n Time Pro would be my first choice. Zynaptiq Elastiq is next. Elastic Audio's X-Form is 3rd(and much better than the other algorithms), but it does take longer to render. Melodyne can do for small clips, but I wouldn't use it for something like changing the tempo of a song

Re: The best time stretching app..
I find that working with higher sample rates can slightly improve the quality. The more data you pass the algorithm the less it has t interpolate.
Anything that works offline is also bound to have improved quality over anything that works in real time. In theory. One way to make this work with you is to use a real time algorithm to experiment with and then run the same/similar settings on a copy of the original using an offline algorithm. It may still require tweaking, but it should cut down on the time required. |

Re: The best time stretching app..
When I kicked it up to 96k, Waves' good ol' Soundshifter sounded best.

Re: The best time stretching app..
The two best sounding imo :
1) Avid x-form 2) Serato pitch'n time That said when doing more extreme 2 x time stretching none really cuts it or preserves the original material good enough imo. |

Re: The best time stretching app..
I have both Pitch n Time and X-Form. There is little to choose in quality, but the Serato PnT works way quicker. Select it as your TC/E plugin in preferences and it makes stretching audio a breeze.

Re: The best time stretching app..
I’ve been using X-Form. If there’s not a huge difference in that and Serato, I probably will just stick with that and save my money. I do notice that the time stretch in Logic works quite well on certain things…and I think the way Logic integrates samples is much smoother than PT so at times I’ll build my track there and import it.
